Run Training Course

Step 1 of 8

12%
  • You are required to complete this Delivery Run Training Course before you begin operating a Delivery Run.

Please read the sections thoroughly and answer the multi-choice questions at the end of each section.

  • Words to know first:

    • Run (or Delivery Run) = A group of streets where you deliver flyers.
    • Run Sheet = A piece of paper that has the map of streets and other information about that particular Run.
    • Run Partner = The person you’ll do your Run with.
    • Home Base = Where you’ll meet your Run Partner before the Run begins.
    • Run Manager = Your contact person for anything you need help with.
    • Run Report = What you need to fill out on your Run Sheet after each Run.
    • Sets of Flyers = A pile of the same flyers. You’ll deliver up to 6 sets of flyers per Run.

  • Working with your Run Partner

    • All delivery Runs are done in teams of two called Run Partners.
    • On the day of the Run, you meet your Run Partner at the Home Base.
    • The time and location of each Run’s Home Base will be on the Run Sheet.
    • If your Run Partner doesn’t show, wait 15 minutes, then go home and contact the Run Manager to let them know what happened.
    • If you want to change the Home Base time or location, and your Run Partner agrees, you MUST notify your Run Manager.
    • You’ll deliver flyers on one side of the road each. It doesn’t matter who does what side. Try and keep it even. If one side of the street has no letterboxes, (if there’s a park or a School etc) then both do the side that does have letterboxes.
    • Stay within view of your Run Partner. NEVER go down separate roads.
    • If you run out of flyers, get more from your Run Partner, so all letterboxes are delivered to.
    • If both Run Partners run out of one or more sets of flyers, keep delivering the rest until finished.
    • Work as a team. Don’t argue about the best way to do the Run. Just pick a direction and work it out as you go.

  • Delivering your flyers

    • ALWAYS wear your Hi-Vis Vest over top of any other clothing.
    • Make sure the flyers are put 100% inside the letterboxes so they don’t get wet or blow away.
    • Don’t put flyers in full letterboxes.
    • Don’t put flyers in letterboxes with signs saying “No Junk Mail”, “No Circulars”, "Addressed Mail Only”, “Newspapers Only” or anything similar.
    • You’ll be issued with ‘Sorry Cards’. If you make a mistake and put flyers in a letterbox where they’re not supposed to be, put one of these cards in the box with them. If you need more Sorry cards let your Run Manager know.
    • When your Run has 3 or more sets of flyers to deliver, sort them into a single collated pile. It only takes literally 5 minutes, and it makes it much easier to handle.
    • Don't put flyers inside other flyers of booklets. Always stack piles on on top of the other.

  • Sick Days, Holidays and Quitting

  • Sick Days and Unexpected Absences

If you’ve already received your flyers for the week and you get sick, or for any reason you can’t do your Run at the correct time/day, it’s your responsibility to contact your Run Partner and reschedule for another day.

Once you’ve rescheduled, notify your Run Manager to let them know what’s happened and how it’s been resolved.

If you can’t agree on a suitable day to do the Run that week, then notify your Run Manager and we’ll arrange someone to do it for you.

Note: You are NOT allowed to get a brother/sister/mother or anyone else to do your Run for you unless they’ve been approved by your Run Manager and they’ve completed the Run Safety and Run Training courses.

    Holidays and Planned Absences

    • We ask that you give at least 14 days notice for any holidays you want to take.
    • You are allowed up to 4 weeks holiday per year without losing your Run.
    • You are not paid for any days you do not work.

    Quitting your Run

    • If you want to stop doing your Run(s), we ask that you give at least 7 days notice.
    • You can return your Vest and Bag by putting them in your Run Box.
    • Your final pay won’t be paid until your Vest and Bag is returned.

    • You’re still expected to do your Runs in wet weather.
    • Make sure you have a rain jacket and warm clothes.
    • If you’re delivering in the rain, keep the flyers in your bag and only pull out a few at a time.
    • You can choose to reschedule your Run for a better day if you and your Run partner agree.
    • In extremely bad weather, the Runs may be cancelled by StudentForce. Check this page after 2pm on any day you think the Runs may be cancelled: https://studentforce.nz/notices/
    • If the Runs are cancelled, contact you Run Partner to reschedule for another day that week. If a day can’t be agreed upon, contact your Run Manager.

  • Rewards and Penalties

  • ‘3 Strikes’ System

To ensure our customers get the best service possible, we have a system that helps our delivery people maintain a high quality of work. If any one of these items is not done you’ll get warning that we call a ‘Strike’:
    • Not showing up for a Run (without giving notice)
    • Not completing all roads in a Run
    • Not putting your Run Box out for pick-up on Monday
    • Not filling in your Run Report
    • Not putting the Run Report in the Run Box for pick-up on Monday
    • Not putting your left-over flyers in the Run Box for
    • pick up (if you run out of flyers then you must write that on your Run Report)
    • Not wearing your High-Vis vest
    • Not using Sorry cards if you make a mistake
    • Having an unauthorized person do your Run for you
    • Not collating your flyers before the Run
    • Putting flyers inside of other folded flyers
The system works just like Baseball. The first two Strikes, nothing happens. You’ll be given a Warning so you know that you’ve done something wrong. But the third Strike, just like baseball, and you ‘strike out’. After getting the 3rd strike you will lose your Run(s). You’ll get a 2nd chance though. You’ll go back on the waiting list (at the bottom though) until another Run becomes available.

    StudentForce Elite

    • If you go 5 weeks without getting any Strikes, we’ll cancel any Strikes you may currently have so you’re back to zero Strikes.
    • If you go 10 weeks without any Strikes, you become a member of the EliteForce.
